Association of Food and Games

Association of Food and GamesThe association of food and games have been linked since the 1980s whilst the launch of Pac-man. The present era seems to be daunted with similar trend.

The recent trends showcase that many of the gaming platforms come up with games that are based on food.

For instance the PlayStation console has Fat Princess, where players have to feed their skinny princess by loading her up on cake so the other team can't steal her and make her fat.

Another example is of Wii Ware's Major League Eating: The Game, here, world's greatest gorging athlete's battle across 12 different food types. Many other that join the list are Restaurant City from Facebook, Sushi Cat from the Super Mario platform and also celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay's has a game known as Hell's Kitchen.

It was never imagined that Toru Iwatani's iconic arcade game Pac-Man, will be a source of inspiration 30-years after. It was originally crafted for female foodies.

In lieu of this Iwatani stated: "I realised that if women and couples were going to come to game centres, they had to be cheerful places. When you think about things women like, you think about fashion, food or dating boyfriends. So I decided to theme the game around 'eating'."
