Australian media criticized Ponting

Australian media criticized PontingFormer players and the Australian media have criticized Ricky Ponting for 'baffling' captaincy in the recent match. Australian media alleged that Ponting used part-timers to try to improve over rate to save his captaincy.

It is to be noted that Ricky has employed part timers instead of his regular pacers after the tea interval during the fifth day of the Nagpur Test. He actually wanted to step up the slow over-rate to avoid a ban in the next Test match.

The Age criticized Ponting and said that he has missed a chance to secure a famous victory by his decision. Former Australia captain, Allan Border also criticized the decision and said that the team should think of the pride of the nation.

Ravi Shastri also talked against strategy of Ponting and said Australians are known for putting the team before individual interests. The team should try to win the match before anything else.

However, Australian coach, Tim Nielson defended the decision of Ponting and said it was also the responsibility of team to deal with over rate.
