Cute Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia tied the knot with her long-time beau Farhan Azmi on March 1 at Koyla, a restaurant in Colaba owned by Farhan.

The couple had a quiet ‘nikaah’ as per Islamic customs at 9.30 p.m.

The wedding ceremony was followed by a grand reception on Monday at the Cricket Club of India lawns, Brabourne Stadium in Churchgate. It was a celebrity turnout all right.

Ayesha was looking dazzlingly beautiful in a beige studded sari with her head covered with a dupatta, while Azmi wore an ivory pin-tuck sherwani and churidar.

Ayesha’s mother Faridah said, “This is the first time in her life that she did that. Actually, Ayesha is not used to wearing traditional clothes. She generally wears western outfits. But she looked very cute.”

The star-studded evening started out early at 8.30 pm as invitees walked in wearing traditional finery.

The wedding theme was white - white curtains enwrapped the marriage area; white lights beautified the trees, the mandap and the stage.

And also, there were white coolers in the VIP area that let loose a gentle breeze.

The guests were offered a sumptuous spread of Continental food by Azmi’s Basilico and Moghlai by Delhi Durbar.

After 3 hours, the newly married was seen leaving the premises for the Azmi house next door.

The wedding, which was postponed owing to 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, was originally scheduled to take place on the Christmas Eve.
