Bahrain opposition warns of unrest ahead of verdict in bombing case
Manama, Bahrain - Bahrain's leading Shiite opposition group on Monday warned of possible unrest surrounding the verdict in the case of 19 youths accused of a
2008 bomb attack that killed a policeman.
"We don't want to see security deteriorate before or after the hearing, and we don't want to have new victims, opening the door for a security crisis that benefits no one," Sheikh Ali Salman, secretary general of the Al Wefaq Islamic Society said.
The 19, including four brothers, are all from Karzakan village, north-west of the capital Manama. They are accused of having bombed an unmarked police car, killing a policeman of Pakistani origin, last April.
Ten more youths are being tried separately for a bomb attack in March that claimed the life of a 58-year-old Pakistani man.
Molotov cocktails were used in both attacks. (dpa)
