BHEL wins order worth Rs 2175 crore from TNEB

Power plant equipment major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured an EPC contract worth Rs 2175 crore from Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) for setting up a 600 MW thermal power generating unit in Tamil Nadu.

TNEB has earlier placed a similar EPC order with BHEL for setting up a 600 MW thermal power generating unit at the same power station.

Under the contract, BHEL will set up the thermal power facility at the North Chennai Thermal Power Station in Tamil Nadu after manufacturing different parts of the contract at its various manufacturing units across the country.

BHEL and TNEB have recently signed a MoU for the formation of a Joint Venture Company for setting up a 2x800 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Project Udangudi in Tiruchendur Taluk of Tuticorin District in Tamil Nadu, with principal equity stake from BHEL and TNEB.
