The district administration and the government gave a rousing welcome to the Beijing Olympians Vijender, Akhil on their coming to the town.

The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) hijacked the entire function from the district administration. Vijender Singh got a bronze medal while Akhil Kumar played up to the quarter final.

INLD gives rousing welcome to the heros by organizing various functions at different places of the state. The common people also welcomed the sportsmen with the beat of drum. The sportsmen were garlanded at various points during the procession. Indian Boxing Federation president Abhey Singh Chautala and his elder brother and Table Tennis federation of India president Ajay Singh Chautala also shared the seat with the Olympians.

The main function was held at Devi Lal Sadan. Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Singh Chautala said that his party would extend all sort of help to the sportsmen. Vijender and Akhil thanked the people of country for their love and support. Some veteran players like Arjuna awardee boxer Mehtab Singh, Jitender Singh and Raj Kumar Sangwan asket the government to rename the Bhiwani boxing club in the name of Capt Hawa Singh. Hawa Singh is called as a father of boxing in the country.
