New York, June 4 : Bill Clinton lost his cool on Vanity Fair and its writer Todd Purdum, who recently wrote major profile piece on him in the magazine, suggesting he had not only had an inappropriate relationship with actress Gina Gershon, but that the former US President was a man of "abiding anger".
Purdum blamed Clinton’s temper for many of wife Hillary’s political woes.
However, the former President wasn’t about to take the accusations lying down, and he fumed to a Huffington Post reporter while campaigning for Hillary in South Dakota that Purdum was a ‘real slimy guy’, the New York Daily News reported.
"There's just five or six blatant lies in there. But he's a real slimy guy," Clinton said.
Clinton also suggested that Illinois senator Barack Obama was complicit in attacks on his wife.
"It's part of the national media's attempt to nail Hillary for Obama. That's what they do - he gets other people to slime her," Clinton said.
Clinton's team also released a 2,476-word letter to the mag calling the article "journalism of personal destruction at its worst," and attacking Vanity Fair’s "penchant for libel." (ANI)
