BJP MLA's murder blot on MP polling dayBJP candidate from Prithvipur assembly segment Of Madhya Pradesh and two-term MLA, Sunil Naik was shot dead allegedly by the brother of Congress candidate contesting from the same constituency.

Naik was shot in the neck by Congress MLA Brijendra Singh Rathore's brother Yashpal Singh Rathore in the Naya Khera area of the constituency.

Inspector General of Police (Sagar Range) K. N. Tiwari said two bullets pierced Nayak's neck and thigh. His gunman also received a bullet in his thigh. Both Nayak and his gunman were referred to Jhansi hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

This is the first time that a candidate in Madhya Pradesh has been killed on polling day.

On the other hand Madhya Pradesh recorded about 64 percentages polling on Thursday for its 230 member assembly.

The fate of 3,180 candidates has been sealed in EVMs at 47,209 polling booths and the results will be known on December 8.
