London, Feb 10:
A British woman is looking forward to smash the land speed record and enter record books – by driving at 800mph in a jet-powered car.
Powerboat champion Sarah Donohue, 35, is one of 25 people who have made it to the shortlist to drive the 48-foot Fossett Land Speed Racer.
Organizers are hoping that the US-built vehicle will be able to attain a top speed of 800mph, thus shattering the 763mph record set in 1997 by RAF pilot Andy Green.
Sarah, who worked as a stunt-woman in Bond film The World is Not Enough, will have to go through a series of gruelling tests in order to claim the record.
The team favours a woman due to the size of the car’s cockpit.
“It’s the ultimate challenge,” The Sun quoted Sarah, as saying. (ANI)
