BSNL Rolls Out ‘IPTV’ In HaryanaBharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has made announcement about the launching of its ‘Interactive Personalised Television and Video Services’ (IPTV) services in Haryana.

In order to fulfill this initiative, State-run telecom operator (BSNL) has joined hands with Smart Digivision.

IPTV is a system delivering digital content services to subscribers using the Internet protocol over a broadband connection using closed network infrastructure.

With this launch, BSNL enabled its subscribers to watch programmes according to their convenience from over 140 TV channels and an wide-ranging movie library with Hollywood and Bollywood titles without paying any extra cost.

Moreover, video, music, games and education on demand can also be availed.

While launching the service (IPTV) in the Haryana circle on Wednesday, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Kuldeep Goyal said, “We expect to have one lakh IPTV subscribers in the country by March.”

BSNL said that initially, IPTV service in Haryana would be available in three cities including Gurgaon, Faridabad and Ambala, and will later expanded it to the rest of the state.

The service will be launched in 9 cities during the first phase.

With this move, BSNL expects to hold its wireline clients, as they will be required to have a broadband connection for the services, Mr. Goyal said.

According to Smart Digivision chairman Mahendra Nahata, IPTV service will attract 4 million subscribers by the next three years.
