Canon India aiming to triple turnover to Rs.7,000 crore by 2015
Imaging major, Canon India is aiming to increase its turnover three times to the level of Rs. 7,000 crore by 2015 backed by its expansion plans into a new segment in the country.
Kazutada Kobayashi, president and CEO, Canon India said that the company is targeting revenue of R2,350 crore and aiming to triple turnover by 2015. Canon currently has a presence in two business segments; consumer business incorporating compact digital and digital SLR cameras, and copier business focused on home office market.
The company is now aiming to offer products in the movie making camera segment and commercial printing solutions in the country. Kobayashi said that the company is entering the third segment and this will allow it to ensure sustainability.
"We will intensify our presence in the commercial segment since there is huge potential to grow," says Kobayashi.
The company sold 50 units of the movie camera called, Cinema EOS, which is priced at Rs 15 lakh onwards, in the country during 2012 and it is aiming to sell 200 units in 2013. It will offer commercial printing machines, EOS professional video camera and medical digital imaging solutions to a wide range of customers in the country aiming to increase its revenues substantially.
Kobayashi also said that the company already has 93 shops in 48 cities and it is aiming to expand the network to 160 shops this year and will look to enter tier 2 and tier 3 markets. It currently employs 1,000 employees in the country and is aiming to hire another 150 people across segments.
