It was the arrest of the Desai by CBI officials on corruption case that instigated the matter and led to unveil more cases that accused the chief of MCI.

According to the reports, it was stated that Desai was the prime accuse for seeking bribe to help Gyan Sagar Medical College. A similar case that held the Chief guilty saw his involvement in taking bribes for other colleges as well.

The CBI claims to have received more than 100 complaints against Desai from all across India. This arrest is based on a FIR against a private institute of Chennai.

Further interrogation claims that Shah had helped 8 private medical institutes to get clearance of MCI based on the instructions of Desai, at the same time he accepted his guilt about his involvement in the scandal before Delhi court.
