Central bank coin honouring James Joyce contains error

Central bank coin honouring James Joyce contains errorA new silver coin, which is being offered by the Central Bank in Ireland, honouring writer James Joyce contains an error that has created much abuzz in the media.

The special commemorative silver coin that is being offered for 10, features a portrait of James Joyce and a famous line from his masterwork Ulysses. However, the central bank has printed the quote with an additional text that is not a part of the original line. The bank released the limited edition coin yesterday after adding a "that" in the original text.

The coin includes the words "Ineluctable modality of the visible: at least that if no more, thought through my eyes. Signatures of all things that I am here to read." However, some pointed out that the line from the third chapter of Ulysses reads, "Signatures of all things I am here to read."

It is not known if the central bank will move to release a new officially approved version of the coin for the people. Joycean scholar Terence Killeen described the error as `really unfortunate' noting that it is just a direct quotation from Joyce and should not have been misquoted on the coin.
