Daihatsu to have four world debuts at Tokyo ShowTokyo  - The Japanese manufacturer Daihatsu has announced that it will unveil at the Tokyo Motor Show (October 24 to November 4) several concept cars and production-ready vehicles destined for the local market.

One of the highlights is the micro-car e: S, or eco & smart, that has a weight of only 700 kilograms and a fuel consumption of only three litres of petrol per 100 kilometres. Apart from start-stop technology the vehicle is fitted with an emission reversal system (EGR).

Other studies at the Tokyo Show are the Tanto Exe and Tanto Exe Custom, more efficient and luxurious versions of the Daihatsu Tanto that is scheduled for production soon.

Also making its world debut is the box-shaped Daihatsu concept van Deca Deca. With no B-Pillar on the side it has special fold out doors, offering improved load possibilities. With a similar box-design the Daihatsu Basket has a hardtop over the front seats and a vinyl roof for the rear passengers so that the rear can also be used as a pickup. (dpa)
