Danish Prince ends forgettable week in Sydney Harbour
Sydney - Prince Frederik of Denmark ended a forgettable week with another dunking in Sydney Harbour on Friday.
On the final day of the Tasar class yachting event for teams of two men over 35 years of age, the accident-prone former navy frogman capsized before racing began and then keeled his boat over again on the final lap.
The 41-year-old prince and his Australian partner, Chris Meehan, came in seventh in a World Masters Games event.
In earlier races, the pair had capsized and Prince Frederik had taken a knock on the head from a swinging boom on his dinghy.
Beijing 2008 gold medallist Malcolm Page said the prince did well - considering he was new to Tasar racing.
"He only had two one-hour sessions before the first race and he's done very well in very hard conditions - it wasn't easy," Page said.
Prince Frederik attended the Sydney Olympics in 2000, during which he met Australian Mary Donaldson, who is now his wife. They were introduced at the Slip Inn, a singles bar not far from where he was competing in the seventh World Masters Games. (dpa)
