Demichelis' late equaliser deny Arsenal victory over Man City in PL clash

Martin DemichelisLondon, Sep 14 (ANI): Argentine defender Martin Demichelis' late equaliser denied Arsenal a victory as they fought to a draw with Manchester City at Emirates Stadium.

England striker Danny Welbeck made his Arsenal debut after his 16 million pounds move from Manchester United and should have celebrated with a goal only to strike a post when clean through early on.

Sergio Aguero made Arsenal pay for that miss by putting City ahead before half-time in the 28th minute but goals from Jack Wilshere and Alexis Sanchez saw Arsenal in sight of a memorable victory, The BBC reported.

However, Arsenal's hopes were dashed when poor marking at a corner allowed Demichelis to beat keeper Wojciech Szczesny to earn a point seven minutes from time.

In a frantic finish, Aleksandar Kolarov hit the post for City and Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny cleared against his own post as the Premier League champions threatened to snatch the three points, which would have been very cruel on Arsene Wenger 's side.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere said that when they went 2-1 up, they felt they could have won it. He added that when City came back into the game, they could have won it too.

Wilshere said that they would look at it and take the positives from the game.

Wenger said that Wilshere is coming back, physically, to his level where he can be, adding that unfortunately it takes time to find that little fraction of a second where one feels he can make a difference in the modern game and get away from people and win the ball. (ANI)
