Di’s ‘thank you’ letter raises £800 for London charity

Di’s ‘thank you’ letter raises £800 for London charityLondon, Oct 30 : A thank you letter from Princess Diana, which she sent to her fashion designer pal Bruce Oldfield and business partner Anita, raked in a whopping 800 pounds at an auction after it was unearthed by Cash in the Attic.

The note and a Christmas card from Diana to Bruce raised the big amount for children''s charity Barnado''s at the special London auction on the BBC2 show.

The Princess of Wales sent the letter to her fashionable pal on December 20, 1988, to thank him for a blouse.

"I do love my Christmas present and how smart it is. You are incredibly kind to have given it to me and I am overwhelmed and speechless (makes a change!) by the arrival,” The Sun quoted her as saying in the letter.

"I''ve never been able to keep a parcel until the right day so I fear I''ve opened it immediately. Thank you both more than I can possibly say for thinking of me. Lots of love from Diana,” she added.

"It''s wonderful that they made such a staggering amount,” said Bruce, who was raised in Barnado''s.

"I''m sure Princess Diana would be pleased that a simple card and thank you letter would help to support a charity of which she was president,” Bruce added.

The show will be screened in January. (ANI)
