Moscow  - At least six rebels and two policemen have been killed in another clash in the Russian republic of Ingushetia, Russian news media reported Monday.

It was the latest in a recent string of clashes which last week resulted in President Yunus-bek Yevkurov dismissing his government.

Yevkurov said his decision was based on the poor performance of the cabinet under Prime Minister Rashid Gaysanov, who was replaced by Alexei Vorobyov, chief of Ingushetia's Security Council.

Other republics in the North Caucasus have also been rocked by bloody attacks by suspected Islamist rebels that have claimed the lives of high-ranking officials. (dpa)
