Engineer creates fake website to dupe people

Vashi cops have launched a manhunt to nab a Mumbra-based Computer Engineer Yunus for allegedly duping city residents of Rs 48,000. The accused had created a fake net banking website of Axis Bank and sent messages to many account holders mentioning that their respective account has some problem. He mentioned another link in the message asking the customers to click the link and check the problem of the account.

The link mentioned was created by the accused, in which the customer was supposed to provide all the details of the account, including the password. These details got automatically stored in the website created by the accused. He then accessed these accounts using the information that he got and kept on transferring the amount to an account owned by Shahadab Shaikh, confirmed an official from Vashi Police Station.

Yunus had told Shaikh that he was supposed to get some money from few people that will be transferred to the latter's account. After many customers complained about the transactions that happened without their consent and about the message, the Manager of Axis Bank, Vashi branch lodged a complaint with Vashi Police Station under sections 465, 467, 468, 471, 420, 511 and 34 of the IPC.

"We interrogated Shaikh and came to know about Yunus who used to stay in Mumbra and is now said to have shifted to Dahisar. After reaching his Dahisar residence, we met his parents who don't have any clue about Yunus. We have launched a manhunt to nab Yunus while further investigations are on," PSI Salunke from Vashi Police Station said.
