Exhibition of Scottish art in Bangalore

Exhibition of Scottish art in BangaloreBangalore, Feb 13 Scottish artist Marianne Greated exhibition of paintings ‘Sonitus’ is on display at Venkatappa Art Gallery here.

Marrianne a graduate from Glasgow School of Art, Scotland has given a very interesting name to her exhibition ‘Sonitus’, which means sound in latin as her exhibition reflects how sounds affect environment.

Increasing sound levels in the environment are an inevitable result of technological advances especially relevant in cities like Bangalore.

Noise adversely affects our personal well-being, wildlife such as birds and fishes are also affected by it. The exhibition draws attention to some of the conflicting issues that come in the way of protecting the environment. For instance some people are opposed to erection of wind turbines as they produce noise.

The inspiration for exhibition comes from collaboration with scientists from University of Edinburgh and the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, who are working on a laser technique that measures high-intensity sounds, which will be used to improve noise reduction in aerospace engineering.

The exhibition will be on till February 23. (ANI)
