Five foreign workers killed in Malaysian store fire

Kuala Lumpur  - Four Bangladeshis and one Burmese worker were killed Wednesday when a fire broke out at a furniture store in the central Selangor state, the official Bernama news agency said.

The victims were believed to have been trapped in their bedroom on the first floor of the store during the pre-dawn blaze, district police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed said.

A total of 43 firefighters managed to put out the fire after one hour, when the bodies of the victims were discovered, he said.

Twelve other foreign workers who were sleeping at the store escaped unhurt, state fire and rescue chief Ramli Yusoff said.
