Gambhir banned for one test match Gautam Gambhir, the Indian Opener, who scored double century in Delhi test against Australia, has  been banned for one test, for being found guilty of hitting Australian all-rounder Shane Watson with his elbow.

The ban order rules him out of the final test against the Aussies starting on Nov. 6.

"India opener Gautam Gambhir has received a one Test ban after being found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the third Test against Australia in New Delhi," the ICC said in a statement.

 Match referee Chris Board awarded him the penalty after the hearing   before the start of third day's play.

"The decision to find Gambhir guilty of a level 2 offence is indicative of the fact that any degree of physical contact is unacceptable," Broad said.

Gambhir was present during the hearing. He was accompanied by Captain Anil Kumble and Indian coach Gary Kirsten. All the four umpires of the ongoing Delhi test were also present there.

On the Other hand Indian team management has decided to appeal against the suspension order.
