Bajaj Electricals, the Electrical appliances maker is looking for an opportunity in the solar sector and plans to get into commercial manufacturing of solar cells. The company is also interested in bidding for distribution franchisee licenses.
The company said it intends to become a 'full-fledged utility company' and plans to enter into the renewable energy space while considering manufacturing solar cell. The company is also looking for acquisitions.
Suzlon Energy rises on BSE, after getting order for turbines

Suzlon Energy Ltd., the World's third largest wind turbine manufacturer, has announced that the company has received, seventh order for 31.5 MW capacity, from Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Ltd.
According to Suzlon, the order of 31.5-MW for the installation of S88-2.1 MW turbines in Rajasthan is the biggest order that the company has received till now. The project has been estimated to generate enough electricity, which can provide power to over 6,000 households.
Haryana to launch drive for promoting Solar Energy

Taking the go green dive to new heights, the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency has chalked out elaborated plans for promoting solar energy in the state. The state has made it compulsory for industries, hospitals and nursing homes, hotels, jail barracks, canteens and housing complexes to make optimum use of solar energy.
NTPC intends to establish two 50 Mw solar projects in Gujarat

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) envisages to install two solar power facilities of 50 Mw each in Gujarat. At the beginning, the company will establish a solar power generation capacity of 100 Mw in the state, which may go up to 300 Mw at a later phase.
Functionaries of NTPC stated in a communiqué that the proposed plants will be located in Kutch and Banaskantha districts.
Gujarat government has already granted approval to National Thermal Power Corporation’s 50 Mw solar thermal power units.
Suzlon to supply wind turbines to Turkish firm

Suzlon Energy, leading wind turbine maker has informed that it has secured an order from Turkey-based Ayen Enerji.
As per official sources, the order has been awarded to provide and set up 27 units of turbines to produce 57 MW of energy.
Functionaries of Suzlon Energy stated in a communiqué that the turbines would be established at the Seferihisar and Mordogan projects in east Turkey.
Suzlon engages in offering total solutions in wind power production with cohesive integration of consultancy, design, making, installation, operation as well as maintenance services.
Emami Biotech to spend Rs 400 crore on expansion of Jatropha Plantation Project

Kolkata-based Emami group company, Emami Biotech, has decided to spend Rs 400 crore (around $80 million) in a jatropha plantation project in Oromia, Ethiopia over the next six years.
It should be noted that Emami Biotech has already acquired around 30,000 acres for the facility, and have started first phase for jatropha cultivation. The company will pump in 30 per cent of the project cost, with the rest to be mobilized from banks and financial institutions.
Suzlon Energy posts net loss of Rs 160 crore in Q1

Wind power major Suzlon Energy on Saturday announced its first quarter results for FY10.
The company has posted a net loss of Rs 160 crore for the quarter ended June 30, against a net profit of Rs 88 crore in the same period the previous fiscal.
In addition, the company also registered a decline of 75 per cent in its total income, which dropped to Rs. 359 crore in the first quarter, from Rs 1496 crore in the year-ago period.
Suzlon Energy enters ‘Bulgarian Market’

Wind power major Suzlon Energy Ltd has entered an agreement by Suzlon with Technomash, Bulgarian Industrial Group to deliver 12.6 MW of capacity through six of Suzlon S88-2.1 MW wind turbines.
The project will come up in the province of Dobrich in North-East Bulgaria, and be supplied in financial year 2009-2010.
In a separate release, Suzlon Energy has revealed its plans to raise $90 million (about Rs 434 crore) through issue of convertible bonds in international markets.
Indowind Energy plans to spend Rs 100 crore on capacity expansion

Chennai-headquartered Indowind Energy Ltd has proposed an investment plan worth Rs 100 crore to generate 30 MW of wind energy in the financial year 2009-10.
It should be noted that the firm has added 20.25 MW to its current capacity of 7.59 MW entailing an investment of Rs 160 crore last fiscal.

After many delays, Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), country's second largest car maker has finally rolled out the LPG variant of its entry-level sedan Accent in the Indian market.
The introduction of this new LPG version of Accent is part of company's initiative to promote eco-friendly and non-polluting means of transport.
Dubbed as 'Accent eco', this new sedan with a bi-fuel capability will be available for Rs 5,33,390 ex-showroom in New Delhi, which is about Rs 35,000 dearer than the existing petrol model.
Suzlon Energy’s founder family raises Rs 230 cr by selling 2 percent stake

Nearly Rs 230 crore has been raised by the Tanti family - the founders of wind turbine company Suzlon Energy Ltd in India – through the sale of almost 2 percent of its over 65 percent stake in Suzlon. Targeted at institutional investors, the sale transaction had Citigroup as the bookrunner.
In a Wednesday statement issued with regard to the sale of stake, Suzlon said that it had sold 30 million shares; however, the family stopped short of elaborating further on the price aspect of the transaction.

Numeric Power to setup a Rs 25 crore MW solar project in Tamil Nadu

Numeric Power Systems, a provider of uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems, has decided to set up a 1 MW solar energy farm at Palladam near Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu.
The company would setup its first solar independent power project (IPP), through its newly established subsidiary, Numeric Solar Energy Pvt. Ltd.
According to company officials, the company would buy solar cells from suppliers in Japan and Germany and configure panel modules and assemble them. The cost of the project is estimated at Rs 25 crore, which will be financed through internal accruals.

Suzlon to supply turbines for Chinese project

The Tulsi Tanti-controlled wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy and China based Inner Mongolia North Longyuan Wind Power Corporation have formed a joint venture on Tuesday. The JV aims to supply wind turbines of 100 megawatt for a World Bank funded project in China. The company recently bagged order for 80 turbines from Inner Mongolia North Longyuan Wind Power Corporation.
The JV, signed by Chinese Subsidiary of Suzlon Energy, Suzlon Energy Tianjin, would ensure delivery of 80 units of Suzlon's 1.25 megawatt turbines in two lots in the financial years 2010 and 2011.

On Tuesday, Search engine major Google Inc. announced new initiative with the aim to lower demand, and the global warming emissions that come from producing electricity. Google will commence using its software skills in order to help users track their home energy usage.

Smart car maker gets a team hand from Tesla Motors

It has been learnt that an electric version of Daimler's popular Smart car's batteries would be made by Tesla Motors Inc.
The customers would be able to buy the new version of Daimler's two-person Smart by the end of this year. Geothermal, solar plants to be set by Tata Power in Gujarat

Tata Group Company Tata Power announced that it is planning set up of a geothermal power plant and a solar power plant of 5 MW each at a suitable location in Gujarat. If the plans are successful, then the renewable energy portfolio of the company would get stronger by this move.
In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the company said, “Tata Power has entered into an agreement in this regard with the Gujarat government to explore the possibility of setting up a 5 MW geothermal power plant in phase I.”
