London, Aug 16: British socialite Peaches Geldof jetted out to join her dad Sir Bob Geldof on a holiday – for talks about her shock marriage to US rocker Max Drummey in Las Vegas.

London  - An English pub landlady has, in a bid to ease the pressure of the credit crunch, begun accepting local game and produce in exchange for beer.

Drinkers in "The Pigs", an ale-house in the Norfolk town of Edgefield, can quench their thirst in return for sacks of potatoes, freshly shot pheasants, pigeons or even the odd rabbit.

"If you have anything grown, raised, shot or stolen that fits our menu, bring it in and we'll do you a deal," reads a tongue-in-cheek sign on the pub door.

And to improve her image, the 27 year old goody has decided to take part in the Indian version of Big Brother called Big Boss, which will commence soon.

The Tamil Nadu government received a notice from the Supreme Court on Wednesday and was questioned regarding the free distribution of products like color televisions and computers to attract the voters, the cost of which would be accounted from the public funds. This pre-poll promise has been made by DMK party.

S Subramaniam Blalaji questioned the DMK government regarding the issue on a public interest petition. Notices were also issued to the Central Government’s Finance Ministry, the Election Commission of India, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India and DMK chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi by a Bench of Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan.

A book named ‘Sivaji Ganesan: Profile of an Icon’ was released in the memory of Sivaji Ganesan by producer A V M Saravanan.

The first copy of the book was received by Sivaji Ganesan’s son Ramkumar. Apart from Balu Mahendra and K Bhagyaraj, renowned cinema writer and researcher Aruna Vasudev, and Shobit Arya, from Wisdom Tree were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on this occasion the author of the book S Theodore Baskaran said, “The younger generation should be aware of legends like P U Chinnapa, Thygaraja Bhagavadhar and the man who produced the first Tamil film, Nataraja Mudaliayar.”
