London, December 9 : Researchers at Imperial College London claim that they have set a new record for concentrating the Sun’s light on to a solar cell with the aid of a transparent polymer plate.

They think that their solar concentrator sheets may help develop a technology that can result in vastly improved solar power capabilities at much cheaper cost.

Luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) are plates of plastic or glass that have solar cells mounted along their edges. They are coated with light-absorbing dye molecules.

When the molecules re-emit the light, it bounces through the plate by total internal reflection until it hits the solar cell.

Islamabad - Pakistan's defence minister confirmed Tuesday that the alleged planner of the November 26 Mumbai terrorist attacks, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, and chief of a militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad, Maulana Masood Azhar, have been arrested.

"Lakhvi was picked up yesterday. Azhar has also been picked up," Chaudhry Mukhar Ahmed said told CNN-IBN in a telephone interview. According to Indian officials, Ajmal Amir Kasav, the lone surviving Mumbai attacker, told investigators that Lakhwi was the alleged mastermind of the siege.

Washington, Dec 9 : The High Resolution Science Imaging Experiment (HiRISE) team, based at the University of Arizona (UA) in the US, has captured 362 three-dimensional images of Mars taken by the HiRISE camera on NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

Other Mars-orbiting cameras have taken 3D views of Mars, but the HiRISE camera - the most powerful camera ever to orbit another planet - can resolve features as small as one meter, or 40 inches, across.

Henriques''s contract is believed to be heavily incentive-based, but it still stands to make him the highest-paid junior cricketer in Australia, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

The St George all-rounder said he was unaware whether the contract had been finalised, although Kolkata chief executive Joy Bhattacharya confirmed terms had been agreed upon.

New Delhi, Dec 9 : Hollywood actress Katie Holmes has sparked pregnancy rumors after she was spotted with a slight baby bump.

According to reports, Holmes was spotted wearing extra loose clothes and carrying a long scarf to hide the baby bump, reports China Daily.

"Katie looked glowing and happy and kept placing a protective hand over her stomach. Even though she was trying to keep it covered, you could definitely see the beginnings of a bump,” a source said.
