German soldier dies 14 months after Afghan suicide attackBerlin  - A 24-year-old German soldier has died of his wounds, nearly 14 months after a suicide bombing in Afghanistan, a German Defence Ministry spokesman in Berlin said Monday.

He was one of the three soldiers injured in an attack on August 6, 2008. The spokesman did not immediately specify the medical problems that led to the death of the soldier, a member of a parachute regiment.

"It shows how dangerous the armed forces' mission in Afghanistan is," said the spokesman. Germany has more than 4,000 military personnel deployed with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. (dpa)
