Germany beat England 6-2 for seventh European women's football title

Germany beat England 6-2 for seventh European women's football title Helsinki  - Germany hammered England 6-2 to win their seventh European title at the European Women's Football Championships final at Helksinki's Olympic Stadium Thursday.

The team coached by Silvia Neid led 2-l at half-time before then turning on the power in the second half for a crushing win that gives them their fifth successive European title, and seventh in all.

Captain Birgit Prinz scored in each half, Inka Grings also scored twice in the second half, and Germany's other goals came from Melanie Behringer and Kim Kulig. England's goals came from Karen Carney and Kelly Smith. dpa
