Germany's Loew to experiment against Finland
Hamburg - Germany coach Joachim Loew is to ring the changes when Finland are the visitors for Wednesday's final World Cup qualifier.
The match in Hamburg will now have the nature of a friendly after the Germany booked their place at next year's World Cup finals in South Africa with a 1-0 win over Russia in Moscow on Saturday.
"I will certainly be trying some new things out. There's no reason to play in a team for the World Cup at this stage," Loew told reporters.
"There is clearly a core team but I now want to look at a few young players in the next two to three games to see whether they can be trusted for a big tournament."
Germany, who drew 3-3 with Finland in Helsinki in September 2008 in their second qualifying game, have the chance to end their campaign undefeated after an impressive record so far of eight wins and a draw at the top of Group 4.
Finland will definitely finish third in the group behind Russia no matter what the outcome of the game in Hamburg.
Captain Michael Ballack may still be an injury doubt although he played down the seriousness of an ankle injury sustained in Moscow.
Hamburg's Jerome Boateng is suspended after he was sent off following a second booking. But club team-mate Piotr Trochowski is expected to get a run out on his home ground while Werder Bremen's Marko Marin is also a candidate in an attacking midfield role.
Further changes could see Hoffenheim defender Andreas Beck come in at full-back, while Loew wants to see Stuttgart striker Cacau in action for the national team again after impressing in training.
The coach is also keen to give all his goalkeeping candidates a chance, which could mean Rene Adler stepping aside for Bremen's Tim Wiese despite the Bayern Leverusen keeper's match-winning performance against the Russians.
Hanover's Robert Enke, who had to pull out with an infection, would then be pencilled in for a friendly against Chile on November 14, with Schalke's Manuel Neuer coming in four days later against Egypt in Gelsenkirchen.
Finland coach Stuart Baxter will be without suspended defenders Petri Pasanen and Hannu Tihinen in defence after they picked up further bookings in Saturday's 2-1 over Wales. (dpa)
