Google Pac-Man game is wasting time

google-pacmanA study has suggested that the Pac-Man game from Google on its home page is wasting a huge working hours of the employees all over the world. It has been reported that it has wasted five million hours of work all across the globe. This version of the Pac-Man game was put on the home page of Google on 21st May.

It was added on this day to celebrate the completion of 30 years in Japan. The Search engine Google has reworked on this game to arrange the layout around letters forming the name.

The game has become so popular that Google made it available permanently on its homepage. A time tracking software tracks how many people has played the game and how long time they have spent on it. A survey has informed that with every 22 searches on the Google page and people are spending around 11 seconds for this game.

After the Pac-Man game has made available on the home page the average time spent increased to 36 seconds. Considering the average payout per hour at $25, the same equates to around $120m in lost productivity.
