Growth slowdown is temporary: Domino's executive VP believes

Growth slowdown is temporary: Domino's executive VP believes Fast food giant Domino's Pizza International is not worried about muted consumer sentiment, despite suffering a considerable decline in growth.

Domino's sales growth slipped to 22.3 per cent in the April-June quarter, from 36.7 per cent in the corresponding period of previous year.

But Domino's Pizza International's executive vice president Ritch Allison shrugged off the slowdown saying it is temporary. Mr. Allison was speaking to reports after inaugurating the company's 500th store at Rajinder Nagar, Delhi.

Speaking on the topic, Mr. Allison said, "It's not a huge concern. We believe the weak consumer sentiment is a temporary phase."

He said growing at a rate of 22 per cent was not bad, but added that the company would like to return to the strong growth of last year as soon as possible. He further said that India is the third biggest base for the company outside of the U. S. and U. K.

Mr. Allison also revealed the company's expansion plan. He said the company would keep on opening new stores in existing and new cities, despite the slowdown. The company will establish 100 new Domino's stores during this financial year.

Meanwhile, Domino's is preparing for an image makeover in the U. S. market starting October. It will take the new-fangled brand identity to all of its major international markets also.
