The story traces the journey of Seeta, who is brought up with all the luxurious trappings of life and is untimely orphaned and then brought up under the evil eye of her Chachi - Sushmita Mukherjee and fearsome Chacha- Ritu Raj. She grows up to be a tortured and timid girl. On the other hand Geeta also played by Anjori Alagh, who grows up on the streets of Mumbai, becomes a completely confident street smart and bindaas girl who is capable of taking care of herself. Cezanne Khan makes his come back as Suraj, the love interest of Geeta while Gaurav Dixit will essay the role of Raka opposite Seeta. Varied twists of fate lead to Seeta and Geeta’s lives getting interchanged and the unfolding of a fun-filled tale of the two sisters.

Says Hema Malini, “It will be clichéd to say that Seeta Aur Geeta is one of my favorite films but honestly it’s true. I was first time playing a double role and was excited and nervous. The best part is that a lot of youngsters I meet today have seen the film and compliment me so its feels really good. I am elated that the film is being made into a TV serial and I wish Anjori and rest of the cast the very best and hope that the audiences give it the same love as they gave me and the film.”

Talking about the new show, Shailja Kejriwal, EVP Content Imagine said, “Imagine has always delivered shows with newer shades of entertainment that deal with the day-to-day life of every individual. For the first time ever on television, a Bollywood blockbuster film will be translated to a daily series giving it a fresher approach and treatment. Seeta Aur Geeta is a classic story with a twist and a touch of imagination, modern elements and a fresh new cast. We hope our audiences thoroughly enjoy our offering of this entertaining flick.”

Excited about her debut on television Anjori Alagh says “I am really excited, but also nervous at the same time, as I have to portray a double role on television for the first time. I have seen the classic Seeta Aur Geeta several times and I have enjoyed every bit of the movie immensely. No one can ever replace Hemaji. It’s a pride and challenge for me to essay this role and I hope I do justice to my characters.”

On his comeback on the small screen, Cezzane Khan said, “It is a great opportunity for me to bag this role which was once played by the legendry Sanjeev Kumar. My image has always been of a lover boy and now I want to showcase my versatility. This role has the freshness and challenge that I have been looking for. I am really happy to be back on television with a bang with such a big and promising series.”

Says Gaurav Dixit on his new character, “I will be seen as Raka in this show, who is brawny auto driver with a heart of gold. It’s a challenge to play Dharamji’s role but I am confident that I will give my best. I also wish to take some tips from Dharamji in future to enhance my performance.”

Adds producer, Sunil Bohra of Bohra Brothers, “There are many shows on television that are inspired by Bollywood, but for first time someone has bought the rights of a movie for its remake. Since the film was high on drama and comedy we thought it would be really interesting to remake it on television. I am delighted to be associated with Imagine’s Seeta Aur Geeta . The show is very entertaining, engaging mix of storylines, settings and characters.”

The series will be a complete family entertainer with a gripping storyline, doses of comedy, power packed sequences and a completely new and talented cast. Catch the rollicking entertainer only on Imagine. -Sampurn Media
