Johannesburg - Tickets for the 2010 football World Cup in South Africa go on sale on Friday on the fifa. com website at 11 a. m. GMT.

Following is the procedure for obtaining a ticket:

-- Register on the FIFA Club free of charge on http://www.fifa.com/theclub/index.html

-- Then fill out the ticket application form. You can apply for one of two ticket types: a ticket to a specific match or a team specific ticket
(TST) series.

The TST series are a group of tickets to games played by the team of your choice. If your team is eliminated, you follow the winner of your group or, from the quarter-final stages, the team that beat yours.

-- TST series tickets are available for between three and seven games. Tickets to your team's three group matches cost 264 dollars for a category-3 ticket. If you want to follow your team, or, in the event of their elimination, your "adopted team", as far as the final, you need a TST-7 series ticket, which start at 1,254 dollars for a category 3 ticket.

-- The first phase of ticket sales runs from February 20 to March 31. Applications are entered into a draw.

-- Applicants can expect an email informing them of whether they were successful within three days of the draw on April 15.

-- The next phase of ticket sales from May 4 to November 16 is on a first-come, first-served sale. During that phase, applicants can expect an answer within 10 days.

--- Once you receive your email confirmation of your ticket purchase, your payment card is debited.

-- You can collect your ticket, using your payment card, from a ticket collection terminal in South Africa from April 2010 (dpa)
