Hewlett Packard (HP) has once again announced a reduction in the price of the 16GB version of the Touchpad to $399 days after it reduced the price by $50.

At $399, the16GB Touchpad is $100 cheaper than the cheapest Apple iPad, something which could attract more price conscious customers in the tablet market. The 32 GB Wi-Fi version will be priced at $499 after discount.

HP has not announced sale figures for the tablet but analysts say that the response to the device has been disappointing. The company is struggling to compete with Apple and Google’s Android, both of which have a large app market for its users, something considered as very important in the tablet market. HP has to attract developers to create a large base of apps in order to attract more customers to its device.

Hp has also announced that some of previous HP TouchPad buyers are eligible for a $50 App Catalog voucher. Anyone who purchased thier TouchPad between July 1st and August 4th from HP. com or other “participating resellers” is eligible for the voucher.

The HP App Catalog is the HP application store, which will offer app collection to TouchPad and future webOS devices. The voucher will not only offer a chance for tablet owners to download apps but also bring an activity in the young apps tore and may spur development.
