Here’s sad news for Mohun Bagan fans. Due to knee and ankle injury, star striker and Mohun Bagan captain Bhaichung Bhutia has been ruled out from the team for 15-20 days.

On Sunday, Mohun Bagan has to face Dempo in the finals of the 12th Federation Cup.

During the second semifinal against East Bengal, Bhutia injured himself in the first session of the match. After the match, the Indian skipper was taken to a hospital and he underwent an MRI scan to evaluate the extent of the damage.

Speaking on this, Mohun Bagan general secretary Anjan Mitra said, “It’s a huge setback for us. Bhaichung has been ruled out for 15-20 days. In fact, it's a double blow as Bhaichung has hurt his knee and ankle.”

It must be here recalled that Mohun Bagan defeated East Bengal 5-3 in the tiebreaker match to reach the finals of the tournament, while Dempo SC beat Churchill Brothers 2-0, in the semis of the tournament.
