ICAI to launch new 24/7 television channel

ICAI to launch new 24/7 television channelThe Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), which is the accounting regulator in India, has announced its plans to launch a new 24/7 television channel in the coming months.

The launch of the TV channel is aimed at catering to the captive viewers in the country. The regulator has already submitted an application to Prasar Bharti and the final approval is expected in the coming three months. This will be first time that an accounting standard regulator will run its own television channel in the country.

Subodh Agrawal, president ICAI said, "This will be a unique move as the channel will help the students and all our branches spread across the country. Talks are being evaluated but this would be a channel which would not require any heavy investment."

ICAI believes that the new TV channel will help the regulator to reach out to more people significantly. ICAI, which has 133 branches across the country, is a professional body which conducts the chartered accountancy course in the country.

Meanwhile, the regulator has entered into agreements with leading global accounting regulatory bodies in countries like the UK, Australia, New Zealand allowing people to appear in select tests of regulators in those countries and continue to carry on work in with a job of accountant in these countries.
