The image of Wall Street enhances support for U.S. financial reform billGallup researchers said on Tuesday that public support for a U. S. financial reform bill grows when the image of Wall Street is included in the questioning.

In a recent survey that did not use the phrase "Wall Street banks," support for overhaul of the financial system came out to a net 3 points in favor of reform, net referring to the percentage of those indicating they were against the bill subtracted from those indicating they favored a bill.

Gallup further said that when the phrase "Wall Street banks" was included in the questioning, the net public support for reform was 14 points.

Gallup also said that with or without the phrase, seven out of 10 Democrats indicated they favored a reform bill. Among Republicans, 35 percent indicated support with the phrase "Wall Street banks" included in the questioning and 22 percent indicated support without the phrase.

It was informed by the report that the survey results were based on 1,024 telephone interviews conducted April 17-18 and carried a margin of error of 4 percentage points. (With Inputs from Agencies)
