India to be amongst top aviation markets, says Minister PatelCivil Aviation Minister, Praful Patel said on Friday that India will become one of the top five aviation markets in the next five years.

This would happen both on the size side as well as on the scale front. The technological development of the airports in India will be one major step in this direction. Patel said that very soon the airports will have GPS systems.

Talking to media during the sidelines of a conference, organized by the US-India Business Council in association with The Indus Entrepreneurs, DC Chapter and the World Bank-International Monetary Fund India Club said, ever since he took up office in 2004, there have been a lot of changes in the sector. Earlier, India was not recognized by the world of aviation, but that is not the case now.

He further added that there is a sense of confidence all around the sector. He also said that in five years' time, India will break into the top five aviation markets in terms of size and quality.

He also invited the US carriers to use this opportunity and use to the fullest the Open Skies Agreement that India has with the US.
