Indian IT majors keen on UID projectAfter the government has initiated its trial process of the Unique Identification program in the country, over 12 companies matching the likes of Tata Consultancy Services, Bartronics, Mahindra Satyam, Spanco and Geodesic, have shown interest and filed their Expressions of Interest (EoIs) pertaining to implementation of biometric solution for the UID project.

In fact, it is believed that Wipro, Sagem and L-1 Identity Solutions are also in the race to bag this lucrative opportunity for their future growth. Moreover, Sudhir Rao, Managing Director, Bartronics India Ltd has confirmed the fact that the company has submitted its EoL as the deadline for which expired Monday.

Notably, Rao's Bartronics has been active participator in the developments of the UID project so far in the country. Rao also mentioned the fact that the company will continue its participation in the future if the tenders fall in its kitty.

After the volcano ash cloud caused international flight disruptions, the UID authorities had extended the deadline for the submissions of the EoLs as many of the international names have also shown interest in the project. The authorities had finally decided the deadline to be April 26.
