Indian men win gold medal in volleyball

India-VolleyballThe defending champions Indian men's volleyball team has thrashed Pakistan 3-1 in the final to clinch gold medal in the 11th South Asian Games at the Soharwardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.

India registered victory over their arch-rival 23-25, 25-23, 25-16 after going down in the first set. Sanjay Kumar and Naveen Raja played brilliantly as Indian team came back strongly in the second set and won last two sets to bag the gold medal.

Pakistan settled with silver medal while Sri Lankan team won bronze medal after defeating Maldives 25-15, 25-16, 25-18 in the third-fourth playoff tie.

Meanwhile, Indian women have won all three medals in the 10m air pistol event. Lavleen Kaur clinched the gold medal with 474 points while Sonia Rail and Sushma Rana win silver and bronze medal with 473 and 470.9 points respectively.

The Indian trio also bagged gold medal in team event of the 10m air rifle event with 1126 points while Pakistan team won silver medal with 1108 points and Bangladesh team with 1078 points settled with bronze medal.
