Himachal Pradesh is geared up for the launch of BSNL’s IPTV services, IPTV Services To Be Unveiled By BSNL In HP By Next Month which will be unveiled in Shimla next month. BSNL is the largest telephone operator in Himachal Pradesh. Other than IPTV services that are to be introduced on broadband, BSNL will also launch 3G services on mobile phones. 

Initially, these services would be provided in 256 centres statewide but soon these centres would extend to 400. 

Currently, the broadband subscriber base across the state is 17,000 and BSNL is also looking forward to increase this base to 56,000, which can only be possible through setting up of additional centres. 

“The public sector undertaking, planned to expand broadband services to 400 more locations. With this planned expansion, we will have a capacity to provide 56,000 broadband connections in the state. Presently there are about 17,000 broadband connections being provided on landline phones and we are laying special emphasis on expansion of broadband service in the hill state,” reported Anil Kaushal, chief general manager BSNL Himachal, while talking to the media. 

Kaushal further added, “Plans to start IPTV had been finalised and the tariffs would be comparable with cable television or DTH services. At the moment the service has been introduced in Rajasthan and Himachal too would be an early state where it would be made available soon.”
