IT department sets Friday as a deadline for BCCI
After the much-hyped cricket tournament, IPL got into rounds of controversies with the Minister of State for External Affairs getting out of the picture as far as IPL and his ministry was concerned followed up by Lalit Modi being out of the post as the Chairman of the tournament. It is now the turn of BCCI to get into the frame.
In fact, the Income Tax department has as ked the board to produce a long list of documents on Friday, April 30.
Making attempts to get more clarity on the financial details of the tournament, it is believed that a lot of fudging has been done over the past three year with an attempt to make the tournament an instant success in the country.
Notably, the IT department has sought clarity on the deal with the Dubai-based Entertainment & Sports Direct (ESD). It may be noted here that IPL announced that it entered into a 10-year contract with ESD for $ 74 million (Rs. 330 crore) last year. Moreover, the income tax authorities have also asked for more clarity on the holding arrangements of the eight franchisees.
