Japan's foreign reserves at new record in September
Tokyo - Japan's foreign currency reserves reached 1.052 trillion dollars in September, a new record, the Finance Ministry said Wednesday.
Reserves increased by 10.26 billion dollars compared to the previous month.
The expansion was added by a rise in value of US Treasury Bonds and euro-denominated securities.
Japan, the world's second-largest economy after the United States, holds the second-biggest amount of foreign reserves and the second biggest amount of gold reserves after China, as well as reserve positions and special drawing rights of the International Monetary Fund. (dpa)
