John Travolta, wife thank fans for support over son’s deathWashington, January 5 : John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston have thanked fans for showing support over the demise of their son, in their first public statement since the tragedy on January 2.

The celebrity couple's 16-year-old Jett was found unconscious in a bathroom, where he had apparently fallen and hit his head following a seizure, in the family's holiday home in the Bahamas.

Jett, who began suffering from seizures at the age of two and was a toddler when he was diagnosed with rare Kawasaki disease, had later been taken to Rand Memorial Hospital, Freeport, where he was pronounced dead.

Both the grieving parents revealed their gratitude towards their supporters during the trying times.

"We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent their love and condolences," People magazine quoted them as saying in a statement posted on Preston''s website.

"Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives.

"We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It has meant so much to us. It is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness in the human spirit that gives us hope for a brighter future," the statement added. (ANI)
