Jordan welcomes outcome of Lebanese elections Amman  - The Jordanian government on Monday welcomed the outcome of Sunday's general elections in Lebanon and renewed its support for the people of Lebanon.

"The way the elections in Lebanon has been conducted invites pride over the development of political life and democracy in the brotherly country," Minister of State for Information Affairs and Communication Nabil Sharif was quoted as saying by the official Petra news agency.

"Jordan congratulates the people of Lebanon for the successful polls and assures them of continued support with all means," he added.

The Hashemite Kingdom has been traditionally supportive of the Lebanese government of Prime Minister Fouad Seniora and forges close links with leader of the Lebanese majority Saad al-Hariri. (dpa)
