JP group awards Rs.6,500 crore project to L&T
Construction and power related, Jaiprakash Group has awarded engineering and construction giant, L&T an order worth Rs.6,500 crore.
The project is about construction of a power unit, the capacity of which is going to be 3*660 MW and will be set up in Uttar Pradesh.
It is the project that is being handled by Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited (JPVL), which is the power unit of the JP Group. It deals with the supplying, erection and commissioning of Boiler-Turbine Generator package, Critical Piping, Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs), and Power Plant Automation for the project.
In a press release L&T has said that they plan to finish the project in 60 months time and the first scheduled unit for commercial usage will be done within 48 months.
Out of the total capacity, 1980 MW will be based on super-critical technology and will be set up in Karchana district. The rest will be using other methods.
This is the second time that JPVL has given order for usage of super-critical technology. The first one was for a 660 MW unit that was set up in Singrauli District of Madhya Pradesh. That too was taken care of by L&T.
