Karunanidhi’s supporters ransack BJP’s Chennai office

Chennai, Sep 23 : Dravid Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) activists lead by State Information Minister Paruthi Ellamvazhuthi today ransacked Chennai office of the Bharatiya Janata Party, while protesting against the remarks made by Vishva Hindu Parishad leader Ramvilas Vedanti to behead their leader M Karunanidhi over his remarks on Lord Rama.

“Vedanti should withdraw his words against our leader, and the Central Government should take action on this,” Ellamvazhuthi said.

The attackers, who reached the BJP office this morning, threw stones on the BJP party workers in which at least five persons were injured.

The Tamil Nadu Police has arrested around 700 hundred DMK members in this connection.

General Secretray of BJP state unit Tamizhisai Soundarrajan has alleged that the attackers and police were working in tandem and this move was fully supported by the Karunanidhi Government.

Yesterday, DMK workers of Karaikudi in neighbouring Sivaganga District attacked houses of BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit President H Raja and his father-in-law allegedly.

A group of BJP men retaliated and pelted stones at the houses of some DMK workers in the town, police said.

Last Sunday, Karunanidhi had questioned the existence of Ram while addressing a rally in Erode.

He said that Ram is an imaginary character, and asked: “Was Ram a civil engineer?” which created hullabaloo. (With inputs from ANI)
