Kingfisher plans to expand routes to South Asia

Kingfisher plans to expand routes to South AsiaVijay Mallya controlled Kingfisher Airlines has announced that it intends to expand its routes in South Asia. According to sources, company's first flight in South Asia will start from January 19, which will connect Chennai and Bangalore with Colombo.

The private air-carrier (Kingfisher) has also intends to roll out a Bangalore-Dubai flight on February 8, while Mumbai-Bangkok and Bangalore-Bangkok flights are expected to launch on the February 12 and Kolkata-Dhaka flight on February 16.

The sources further said that Kingfisher Airlines has already commenced its overseas operation by rolling out its Bangalore-London flight in September last year. This was followed by company's first daily non-stop Mumbai- London flight that started on the first week of January, 2009.

Though the significant downfall in oil prices acts in Kingfisher's favour making route expansion less costly, industry experts believe that the current fiscal will be tough as the economic slump has trim down the growth rate of air traffic.
