Krejza, Watson recalled to Oz Test squad

Sydney, Dec 8 : Injured spinner Jason Krejza and all-rounder Shane Watson have been recalled to Australia’s 12-man squad for next week’s first Test against South Africa beginning in Perth.

Off-spinner Krejza has been selected subject to fitness after missing the second Test win over New Zealand in Adelaide due to an ankle injury, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

The 25-year-old hasn’t played a Test since taking 12 wickets on his debut in the final Test against India in Nagpur last month. Watson edged him out in the opening match of the NZ series in Brisbane.

Krejza replaces Nathan Hauritz for the Test at the WACA, starting December 17, while Watson has been included after Victorian paceman Peter Siddle, 12th man in Adelaide, was left out.

Krejza is due to play a one-dayer for Tasmania against South Australia in Adelaide on Wednesday.

“(Krejza) has been picked subject to fitness but all reports suggest he’ll be fit and will resume cricket for Tasmania this week,” said chief selector Andrew Hilditch on Monday.

“Jason richly deserves to be back in the Test squad following his debut in India. Having said that, Nathan Hauritz bowled well in Adelaide and we were pleased with his performance.”
