Advani cancels planned rallies following Fidayeen attack threatNew Delhi, Feb. 5 : Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L. K. Advani has cancelled all of his planned election-related rallies this month after the Union Home Ministry warned him of possible fidayeen attack.

Advani was to undertake a ‘Sankalp Yatra’ over the next 15 months, with the first one scheduled for Wednesday in Jabalpur.

Tthe Jabalpur rally will now be held sans Advani.

Last month, intelligence agencies had warned BJP president Rajnath Singh that he is being targetted by Pakistan-based terrorists, which led the Centre to ask the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government in Uttar Pradesh to beef up his security.

Both Advani and Singh have Special Protection Group and Z+ security with National Security Guard cover.

The BJP has maintained that the UPA Government at the Centre does not having a clear policy to fight terrorism in the country.

It has repeatedly called on the Congress-led ruling coalition to introduce stringent laws to deal with the menace. (ANI)
