Lab owner arrested for supplying ‘HIV+ blood’ in Rajasthan

HivAn alleged case of an HIV positive person donating blood to four children between the ages of 8 to 14 in Sri-Ganganagar has rocked the entire state of Rajasthan.

The police arrested a pathology lab owner on the charge of collecting blood from donors without proper tests and supplying it to a nursing home in the district.

Confirming the development, Jaipur SP Umesh Chandra Dutta said: “The laboratory owner, Hetram Goyal, was arrested under sections 420 and 269 of the IPC on Saturday.”

Goyal has been remanded in police custody.

However, the owner of the nursing home, Bharat Bhushan, is still absconding.

Apart from this, the police also confiscated all the records from the lab and the nursing home for the further investigation.

Meanwhile, state health minister Amamuddin Ahmed has assured an inquiry into the whole matter. Speaking with the media persons, Ahmed said that a suitable action would be taken against the hospital if it was found on the wrong side of the law.
